I started my own communications consulting company in 2000, when I left the traditional workplace to raise my two children. I wanted to remain engaged in the community and continue to develop the relationships I had built throughout my career as a reporter, editor, and economic development professional. My clients included small businesses, non-profits, and governmental agencies. I helped organizations build successful fundraising campaigns, conduct research and write winning grants, hold press conferences, galas, speaker events, and publish books, newsletters, brochures, and much more.
When my children started school, I spent 20 years as executive director in small but mighty nonprofit organizations focused on community planning and development, education, public policy, and advocacy. I was fortunate to be able to sharpen my research, writing, fund development, public engagement, and organizational development skills while serving the community I love. As an active volunteer and board member of local philanthropies, I further enhanced my fundraising, event planning, and facilitation abilities.
In 2024, I decided to strike out on my own once again, with the sole purpose of helping small businesses and nonprofit organizations thrive. As a nonprofit community leader and small business owner myself, I am familiar with a wide array of strategic, operational, and budgetary challenges and can offer innovative and effective solutions at a reasonable cost. Whether working independently or collaborating with others, your organization will have my full attention as, together, we navigate the challenges you face.
